Welcome 2024, Lois will be mailing out this years membership cards and stickers soon. If you have not paid your dues please do so via mail or through the website. Both listed below.

FYI, we have a new state secretary and an assistant for the Virginia State Lodge. Moving forward with the changes, all new information and updates will be posted on social media or our website.

I know many of you have problems with member planet as our main form of communication. Lois is still looking for a replacement. In the interim, please note that we will post on VBFOP8 Facebook, Instagram and our website (www.virginiabeachfop.com) with any upcoming news or events.

Maintaining an accurate local lodge membership roster during the year is vital. If you have not paid your dues for 2023. You will be listed as in active in the National registry until they are made current.

Meetings, we have not had one in a while due to lack of participation in the past. We need board member to fill the current vacancies. If you are interested in a position or want to volunteer to organize the meetings, please reach out to Lois via lodge email listed below. Currently your board is down four positions. We do not want our lodge to fail. However, this past year six lodges have closed across the state for lack of membership and participation.

Please remember that annual dues for active LEO is $75 and retired LEO’s dues are $45. Legal assistance is separate from the dues.

Fellow FOP Brothers and Sisters,

I hope this letter finds you well and healthy. As 2021 comes to a close, the Board would
like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year.

After attending the National conference in Illinois this year, our state directors voted and per
capita will be raised starting 2022. Virginia is still the 2nd lowest state in the Nation on dues. I would like to inform our members of upcoming changes:

1. VA State dues will increase for 2022. This is the first increase in almost 5 years.
   The new annual membership dues for members are:

Active LEO’s: $75.00
Retired LEO’s: $45.00

2. Legal defense: There will be a price increase in 2023. More information will
   follow later this in 2022 on how to update your direct deposit.

The new member dues will take effective January 1, 2022. Please make the necessary
adjustments. If you are behind on your dues or have questions, please contact our
secretary, Lois Thompson at lthompso@vbso.net or text at 757-650-3863.

We’re raising money for a cause we care about. We need your help to reach our goal!

Dante has a special place in the FOP #8 heart. We meet Dante 3 years ago at Cops and Kids and every year he stops by to bring us a smile and hug.

Due to COVID, we went to his house this year and were shocked at the condition of the ramp needed to help Dante get in and out of his house. 

So we are doing what we do best, GIVING BACK… please donate to buy supplies to build Dante a new ramp. We plan to go over in late spring and put our “Bob the Builder” skills to work.  You can email us at VBfop8@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to help.
